Shaniwar Wada
Shaniwar Wada is a historical fortification located in the city of Pune, Maharashtra, India. It was constructed in 1732 by the Peshwa Baji Rao I, the prime minister of the Maratha Empire under the rule of Chhatrapati Shahu. Shaniwar Wada served as the seat of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire until its destruction in a fire in 1828.
The fortification was known for its impressive architecture, with intricately designed gates, halls, gardens, and residential quarters. However, after the fire, much of the fort was destroyed, and today only the ruins remain. Despite its partial destruction, Shaniwar Wada remains a popular tourist attraction and an important historical landmark in Pune.
